Daemons vs. Adeptus Mechanicus

Nurgle vs Adeptus Mechanicus (1,750pts) – Battle Report

This was a mystery game against an unknown army.  I had no idea that it would be the Adeptus Mechanicus.

In a way having no idea what you’re up against is quite liberating, you stop worrying about whether you can handle the enemy and just build what you fancy taking.  So for me this week it was going to be another chance to put Epidemius on the table.  I was heading back to the store that I bought him from, so it seemed fitting.  I tweaked the list that I took last time to make it both smaller and to also bring in a trio of Myphitic Blight Haulers.  I’ve not used them in a very long time.

Nurgle vs Astra Militarum (2,000 pts) – Battle Report

This was a rematch against Cadian Shock‘s Astra Militarum who I’ve played quite a few times.  Cadian Shock’s own write up can be read here:

List Theory

I knew that I wanted to try Epidemius out again as I’ve only played him once before.  This game was going to be slight larger than that one, 2,000 points  rather than 1,750, and so I had a bit more room to take even more Daemons.  More Daemons maximises the chances to trigger the buffs that Epidemius provides and maximises the number of units that benefit from those buffs.  Given that I had a few more points I worked Rotigus into the list and spent a little bit more on taking some extra Plague Marines, three squads of five this time.  My worry was that Cadian Shock was going to bring a plethora of Leman Russ tanks, as he’s done before, and given that this list would have a real lack of S8 anti-tank weaponry I might have trouble dealing with it.  If I could get Epidemius to trigger his buffs then the Plagueburst Crawlers would end up with S8 auto-hitting weaponry.  But it could be a problem.

Sloppity Bilepiper

Oh boy, that name… Anyway he buffs Rotigus (well Great Unclean Ones in general) and has a nice bit of interplay with Plaguebearers and the banner that brings models back on a roll of 1 when making a morale check so he seemed like a good idea.

He was a fun model to build, he’s got a lot of character.  I painted him with the same technique as used for my Plaguebearers so that he fits right in.

  • Green Flesh – Two washes of Athonian Camoshade followed by a highlight of Nurgling Green
  • Red cloth – A base of Screamer Pink, a wash of Agrax Earthshade and a highlight of Changing Pink.
  • Stick – A base of Dryad Bark, a wash of Nuln Oil and then a highlight of Ushabti Bone.
  • Dancing Nurgling – Painted up as I did with Rotigus.

The List

IMG_6196.jpg

I used the same list as I did in my last game against the Dark Eldar.  In part this was because I’m feeling under the weather, in part because I’m busy but also because I wanted to give it another go as I felt my win was somewhat lucky.  Basically I’m still wondering how to rate Rotigus now that I’ve also got the Bilepiper to back him up.

Rotigus charging into combat

Nurgle vs Dark Eldar (1,750 pts) – Battle Report

This was a game at Distinct Gaming in Belper.  My opponent was someone who I ‘d never had a game against, so I had not idea what I would be up against.  It turned out to be the Dark Eldar, and this was really exciting as I’d never seen them on the tabletop before yet alone played them.

A few days before this game I had finished painting my Sloppity Bilepiper, so this list was going to be all about giving him a go.   The reason that I got him was to help buff Rotigus so as to increase the chances of getting him into combat.  He allows Great Unclean Ones to charge after advancing, which increases his threat range.

Nurgle vs Orks (2,000 points) – Battle Report

IMG_6071.jpg

I’ve only had two previous games against Orks, one pre-Codex and one post-Codex.  I found both games really fun so I was looking forward to this.  This game would be against a very good tournament level player and I knew I was going to be in for a tough one.  But let’s see how I can do.

List Theory

My list was built up from the one that I used in my last game against the Astra Militarum.  That seemed to work reasonably well and I wanted to try it against a very different type of army to see how it would work out.  It was built with some flexibility in mind, and I had no idea what type of Ork list I would be facing so I needed that.

On the Death Guard side I added a Marine to each squad as an ablative wound, a Foetid Bloat Drone to protect the Daemon Prince and an extra unit of Poxwalkers for additional screening or objective holding.
